Koua Moua

Many people find that scholarships are a way to directly influence a student’s life. That effect was never more visible than it was when hundreds of University of Nebraska donors, friends and alumni gathered near Ashland on Oct. 16 to kick off the University of Nebraska Foundation’s fundraising campaign, The Campaign for Nebraska: Unlimited Possibilities.

Launching the public phase of the $1.2 billion fundraising campaign for each of the university’s four campuses brought donors into close contact with some of the people their gifts directly help. Here is a touching video of Koua Moua, a student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha who spoke at the event.

Mary Kenny, director of annual campaign in the foundation’s Omaha office, drove to the event with Moua. As he shared with her the comments he planned to make, she began to cry and she missed her exit on the interstate. They drove 15 miles before they could turn around to get to the museum.
