The University of Nebraska Medical Center is putting together a team of health care providers to go to Haiti to provide relief. UNMC will assemble a professional team that could either join a statewide group or work in collaboration with the U.S. State Department. Dr. Rubens Pamies, a UNMC vice chancellor, is from Haiti. He and his wife, who have both lost family members, will be leading the UNMC team, which is expected to include about 20 people.
A fund has been created at the University of Nebraska Foundation to accept contributions from university employees or members of the public who would like to support this effort. The fund, for Haiti relief and outreach, will offset travel costs and buy supplies and materials for this trip and future trips.
